*** WHO IS BUG ? ***
BUG
Bio:
Standing 5’8, BUG is on a mission to unlock listener’s minds, and is an artist who has a message in every song he creates. Born in Barbican, Jamaica, BUG grew up around music, as his parents used it as a means to keep the family entertained. His Sister was the singer in the family, and encouraged BUG to embrace music. With that encouragement, BUG decided from early that his ruling theme would be Love, Unity and Gratitude.
Loosing his Mother at the age of 11, BUG lived with his Aunt and Uncle who encouraged him to pursue his goals and dreams. By the time he reached teenage years, BUG left Trenchtown Comprehensive High School to join his Father in the US. Using his experiences from Jamaica, his new experiences in the US, and the singing style of Leroy Smart, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Alton Ellis, BUG used the transitional time to develop his writing style, which resulted in countless versatile songs. One of his first jobs was recording dubplates for sounds system from Japan, Germany and the US.
One of the highlights of BUG career so far was opening a show for Yankee B and his album release party with fellow artist Stya Fiya [member of 2Luga]. He also opened for Monster Shock at New York’s famous Tunnel nightclub. BUG has also worked in the studio with Tommy Boy Recording artist Screwball on there Y2K album.
Not being afraid to tackle difficult issues, BUG uses his sing-jay style to highlight topics that affect the community. A perfect example of such a song is “Leaders” on the I-Trucoustic Riddim from Conscious Media Productions. On that riddim, BUG calls entertainers like Sizzla, Capleton and Buju Banton (among others) leaders, and asks them to address the violence plaguing communities in Jamaica. His hit single “This Time” is another chune that shows off BUG's lyrical versatility as he sings of times never seen before.
In 2002, BUG launched his own record label called ‘Locksmith Records’. Under his label, BUG produces and writes music for himself, as well as other artists.
Also, BUG Executive Produces his debut album 'I Bring2U' with 31 tracks, release online February 21, 2009. It's available at these retailer Amazon, Emusic, Napster, Itunes, Rhapsody and Locksmithrecords.com.
